Convergence Group acquires LinchPin as UK expansion continues

6 September: Convergence Group, the telecoms provider for businesses, health authorities and retailers, today announced its acquisition of the connectivity supplier, LinchPin, in a move which sees the company continue its bold acquisition drive in the UK.

The acquisition of LinchPin further strengthens Convergence Group’s portfolio of customers in the healthcare and higher education sectors, adding 28 new businesses who will benefit from access to a wider pool of resource, product and services – including the company’s 120-strong team of connectivity experts.

LinchPin supplies innovative wide area network (WAN) and connectivity solutions to enterprises, with a focus on public services, healthcare, higher education, local authority and manufacturing customers.

LinchPin has been a reseller for Convergence Group for over a decade. This acquisition provides Convergence Group with an opportunity to add to its existing customer base in these sectors and offer its total network connectivity portfolio to new customers, including access to its own UK network.

Convergence Group runs its own business-only network, which means its customers do not have to compete with residential networks – offering an exclusivity and security that allows for first class connectivity.

The announcement follows Convergence Group’s acquisition of LAN3 in July, which is set to boost the company’s revenue by more than 15%.

Danny Masters, Managing Director of Convergence Group, said: “We are delighted to announce the acquisition of LinchPin today – a move that further cements our commitment to expanding the business and offering our capabilities to new customers.

“Through this acquisition, we are building our high-quality customer base and expanding across several target sectors – including healthcare and higher education – which is part of our long-term vision to grow the business and reach more customers across the UK.”

Steve Tyler, Director of LinchPin, said: “This is an important moment for the LinchPin team. We are delighted to be joining Convergence Group and very excited about what the acquisition means for our customers, who will benefit from access to more resource and more expertise – with the same level of care and quality they have come to expect from us.”

Birmingham-based Convergence Group provides connectivity services to public and private sector organisations across the UK, supporting nearly 800,000 business user connections.
